As followers of Christ, giving is a part of our worship. We believe giving cheerfully and sacrificially is an act of worship that blesses the giver as much as the receiver (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Among many reasons given in scripture for why we should give, one that should move our hearts most directly is because it makes us more like Christ. The death and resurrection of Jesus represent the most generous gift ever given – when the King of Glory gave up everything in order to reconcile us to God. Our generosity is a response to this unfathomable generosity. We love because He first loved us, and we give because He first gave.
