This past Sunday, we set aside a portion of our worship service for a time of prayer and lament in response to the unjust killing of George Floyd. We wanted to make this prayer public as a way to weep with those who weep and stand in solidarity with those who are hurting.
As a church that is concerned with gospel-centrality, we believe it is of the utmost importance not only to love God with all our hearts, minds and strength, but to love our neighbors as ourselves. We stand against racism - both individual and systemic - and anything that threatens to distort and destroy the image of God in men and women. We continue to long and pray for peace, for comfort for those grieving and oppressed, and for our black brothers and sisters in their continued struggle to see justice flow like a river. We pledge to listen, learn, love and work to that end.
Please pray with us as we seek the good of our city and nation.
